About the Position

Rhode Island Hospital, a member of Brown University Health, is seeking a skilled Lead CT Technologist to join our team. Under the general supervision of the CT Scan Manager, the Lead CT Tech is responsible for performing routine and complex CT scan procedures with minimal technical supervision. You will play a key role in instructing Radiology students and employees in clinical procedures, ensuring that the CT Scan department operates efficiently, and maintaining workflow for maximum throughput. Additionally, you will perform administrative tasks such as inventory management, compiling statistics, and monitoring equipment functionality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing complex CT scan procedures in areas requiring advanced techniques, including pediatrics, utilizing 2D, 3D, 4D, MIP, VR, and SSD imaging.
  • Providing clinical instruction to Radiology Technology students and guiding them through procedures, as well as reviewing their performance with supervisors.
  • Offering on-the-job training to staff and participating in formal in-service education sessions.
  • Completing administrative tasks such as inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment functionality.
  • Overseeing departmental workflow and staffing to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Remaining proficient in special procedures, including biopsies, drainages, and ablations (Cryogenic, RF, Microwave).
  • Adhering to ALARA radiation safety principles, including proper use and exchange of personal dosimeters.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited program in Computed Tomography.
  • Registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current CPR certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers).
  • RI state radiation license and CT supplemental license from the Department of Health.
  • At least one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital radiology department and one year of specialized training in the operation of a CT Scanner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and to instruct students and employees in radiologic techniques.
  • Analytical skills to compile and interpret data, organize work, and troubleshoot issues.



Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This position involves working in a CT Scan area or satellite unit, with exposure to radiation and potential odors from human waste and chemicals from automatic film processing. Physical requirements include long periods of standing, walking, pushing portable equipment, and lifting/positioning patients. Adherence to safety protocols ensures minimal risk.
