About the Position

Rhode Island Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is looking for a dedicated CT Scan Technologist to join our team. Under the supervision of the CT Scan Manager and Lead CT Scan Technologist, you will operate CT scanners and related equipment to produce radiographs of designated anatomical areas. You will be responsible for collecting patient data, ensuring proper equipment calibration, and performing quality control checks. Additionally, you will assist patients and radiologists throughout the imaging process, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating CT scanners, selecting scan parameters, and positioning patients for optimal imaging.
  • Performing quality control checks and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Administering contrast media and saline to patients, while monitoring their condition during scans.
  • Collecting and recording patient data, including medical history and scan information.
  • Assisting radiologists with specialized imaging procedures, including 2D, 3D, 4D, MIP, VRE, and SSD images.
  • Maintaining equipment records, such as calibration results, service reports, and incident documentation.
  • Providing in-service education for students and staff technologists.

Requirements

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and in good standing.
  • Current CPR certification from the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • RI state radiation license and CT supplemental license from the Department of Health.
  • Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology, plus six months of specialized training in CT scanner operation.
  • At least six months of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic radiologic procedures and computerized tomographic equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.



Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role requires working in the CT scan area, with exposure to radiation minimized by adhering to established safety protocols. The position involves long periods of standing, walking, and pushing equipment, as well as lifting and positioning patients.
