About the Position
Rhode Island Hospital, a member of Brown University Health, is seeking a highly skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team. Working under the general supervision of the Interventional Radiology Manager and the section's Medical Director, you will assist in performing vascular and interventional radiologic exams, ensuring the safety and comfort of geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients. You will also maintain the functional integrity of the equipment and foster patient-centered care in line with Brown University Health’s mission, vision, and values.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing examination rooms, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring all equipment is operational.
- Instructing and positioning patients while performing aseptic surgical preparations for interventional procedures.
- Assisting radiologists with interventional and angiographic procedures, including neurointerventional procedures like cerebral coiling and stent placements.
- Operating both biplane and single-plane digital fluoroscopic equipment and injecting contrast media using power injectors.
- Monitoring patients' physiological status during procedures and alerting physicians to any changes.
- Archiving images in PACs, recording pertinent data, and ensuring proper charge codes are utilized.
- Adhering to ALARA radiation protection principles, including the use and monitoring of personal dosimeters.

Requirements
- Two years of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Valid license from the Rhode Island Department of Health.
- Current CPR certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers).
- Must take the advanced registry test in Cardiovascular/Interventional Technology within three years of placement in the Vascular/Interventional section.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients, physicians, and staff.
- Analytical ability to calculate and select proper technical factors for radiographs and operate equipment effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural considerations in patient care.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and radiation, with hazards minimized by adherence to safety precautions. The position requires physical dexterity and strength to position patients and operate equipment, as well as prolonged periods of standing and movement during procedures.
