About the Position
The Miriam Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. Under the general supervision of the Medical Imaging Manager, you will perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures to assist radiologists and nuclear cardiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position involves operating advanced nuclear medicine equipment, preparing radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring proper patient care, and maintaining meticulous records. You will be responsible for performing routine clinical studies and supporting the daily operations of the Nuclear Medicine Program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with department protocols and physician instructions.
- Operating gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, and other specialized equipment.
- Processing images and inputting information into the PACS system for radiologist review.
- Administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing quality control on equipment, and preparing radiopharmaceutical kits.
- Ensuring accurate billing, tracking patient information, and maintaining meticulous records of radiopharmaceutical usage and disposal.
- Performing daily and weekly quality assurance tasks, including wipe tests and camera calibrations.
- Assisting with department accreditation processes, training new staff and students, and maintaining established safety and infection control standards.

Requirements
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Current license to practice Nuclear Medicine in the State of Rhode Island.
- ARRT or CNMT certification required.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interface with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Analytical skills to calculate and prepare radiopharmaceuticals and operate nuclear medicine equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of age-specific needs and cultural sensitivity in patient care.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in a healthcare environment with direct patient contact and exposure to medical equipment. Adherence to safety protocols minimizes hazards related to electrical, energy, and radiation exposure. The position requires walking and standing intermittently, lifting patients and supplies (up to 50 pounds), and handling radiopharmaceuticals with attention to detail.
