About the Position
The Miriam Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a skilled Registered Radiographer Mammographer to join our team. Under the supervision of the Medical Imaging Manager and the BHMG Lifestyle Medicine Manager, you will perform a variety of technical bone densitometry and mammographic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. You will play a key role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and effective communication throughout each procedure. Additionally, you will be responsible for quality control, patient scheduling, and maintaining compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) protocols.
Key responsibilities include:
- Greeting patients and explaining mammographic and bone density procedures to reduce apprehension and ensure patient comfort.
- Scheduling bone density and mammography examinations to maintain efficient patient flow.
- Performing screening and diagnostic procedures while ensuring safety standards are followed.
- Processing images and transferring them to the PACS system for physician review.
- Assisting with needle localization procedures and performing imaging duties as required.
- Maintaining quality control standards for the mammography and bone density units in the absence of the Lead DI Technologist.
- Following departmental protocols for the use of RIS and PACS systems, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Maintaining cleanliness and adequate supplies in assigned areas, and rotating shifts as required.

Requirements
- Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Current license to practice in the State of Rhode Island.
- Current ARRT certification and mammography certification required. If performing bone densitometry exams, ISCD (or ARRT) certification is also required.
- Must meet the standards outlined by the Mammography Quality Standards Act, ACR, and ISCD (if applicable).
- A minimum of two years of radiology experience, including proficiency in mammography and bone densitometry procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in a healthcare environment with exposure to medical equipment and direct patient contact. The position requires walking and standing intermittently, as well as the ability to lift and position patients and supplies (up to 50 pounds). Adherence to safety protocols ensures minimal hazards from electrical and energy exposure.
