About the Position

Brown Health Medical Group, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a dedicated Radiology Technologist to join our Urgent Care Center in Johnston. Under the supervision of the Urgent Care Practice Manager and indirectly the Medical Imaging Manager, you will perform a variety of radiographic procedures while ensuring high-quality patient care. In addition to imaging duties, you will assist with EKGs, phlebotomy, and administrative tasks to support efficient workflow. This role requires adaptability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Following urgent care workflow protocols to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Greeting and informing patients about radiologic, EKG, and phlebotomy tests to reduce anxiety.
  • Performing radiographic exams, ensuring proper anatomical positioning and high-quality images.
  • Transferring images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review.
  • Placing EKG leads, performing tracings, and ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Performing phlebotomy functions as required.
  • Scheduling patients and maintaining accurate orders in Lifechart PACS and other systems.
  • Assisting with patient registration, checkout, and administrative duties.
  • Maintaining a clean and well-stocked examination area, ensuring all safety and infection control standards are met.
  • Providing flexible coverage for weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Training and instructing new Radiology Technologists in the urgent care setting.

Requirements

  • Completion of training in an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • Current Rhode Island Radiologic License and ARRT certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and culturally competent care for patients of all ages.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role is based in an urgent care setting, requiring direct patient contact. Safety precautions minimize risks from radiation exposure, energy hazards, and medical equipment. The position requires standing, walking, and lifting patients and supplies up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
