About the Position
Rhode Island Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a dedicated CT Scan Technologist to join our evening shift team. This role is responsible for performing complex and routine CT scan procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and efficiency in a fast-paced hospital radiology environment. Under the direction of the CT Scan Manager and Lead CT Scan Technologist, you will work with state-of-the-art imaging equipment to provide high-quality diagnostic images for physician review.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating CT scanners to perform standard and advanced imaging procedures, including 2D, 3D, 4D, MIP, VRE, and SSD imaging.
- Ensuring proper patient positioning and comfort to obtain optimal images.
- Administering contrast media while monitoring patients for potential reactions.
- Conducting pre-scan screenings for dietary preparation, medication sensitivities, and contraindications.
- Monitoring and calibrating CT equipment, troubleshooting minor malfunctions, and coordinating maintenance as needed.
- Performing specialized interventional CT procedures, such as biopsies, drainages, and ablations (Cryogenic, RF, Microwave).
- Transferring images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review.
- Documenting patient data, verifying accurate charge codes, and ensuring proper billing.
- Providing in-service education and training to students and fellow technologists.

Requirements
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing.
- Valid Rhode Island state radiation license and CT supplemental license from the Department of Health.
- Current CPR certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers).
- Two years of formal training in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Minimum six months of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, plus an additional six months of specialized CT scanner training.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare teams.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in a hospital CT Scan department, requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, and positioning of patients. Exposure to radiation is minimized by adherence to strict safety protocols.
