About the Position
Rhode Island Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Technologist to assist in invasive and non-invasive cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. This role requires an experienced professional to operate and maintain specialized monitoring and imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and high-quality data collection during cardiac procedures.
Under the supervision of the Cardiovascular/Electrophysiology Laboratory Manager, this position is responsible for setting up and operating advanced cardiovascular technology, assisting physicians during procedures, and supporting quality control and continuous process improvement initiatives.
This full-time, day shift role is ideal for a highly skilled electrophysiology or cardiac catheterization technologist looking to advance their career in a fast-paced, high-tech hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, activate, and operate monitoring and recording equipment for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
- Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures, ensuring proper operation of imaging and monitoring devices
- Perform ECG monitoring, intracardiac ultrasound, 3D mapping, defibrillation, and electrophysiologic studies
- Maintain and troubleshoot cath/EP lab equipment, ensuring optimal function and reporting malfunctions
- Perform device programming and surgical scrub assistance for pacemaker and ICD implants
- Assist in procedural documentation, data entry, and report generation
- Transport patients and equipment within the hospital as needed
- Maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper sterilization of equipment and surgical tools
- Participate in ongoing research projects and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements
- Associate of Science degree in an AMA-accredited Allied Health field, or a certificate from an accredited program in Radiology, Cardiovascular Technology, Nursing, or Engineering
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist, RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (or must obtain within three months of hire)
- One year of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, or Interventional Radiology Lab
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, ECG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, and sterile techniques
- Experience in setup, operation, and maintenance of Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology equipment
- Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation procedures
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position involves working in a cardiovascular laboratory and surgical procedure area, requiring:
- Exposure to low-level radiation, blood samples, and high-voltage equipment (with safety precautions in place)
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying of heavy equipment
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor equipment and respond to physician and patient requests
- Ability to wear lead aprons and stand for prolonged periods during procedures
